Chicago Meets NYC Weekend
Our best friend, Mary, flew in from Chicago for a weekend in NYC. We love a good culture and foodie weekend in the city so we were very excited and it did not disappoint. It started with a little shopping excursion to one of our all time favorite stores - Fish's Eddy. I have been shopping at this store since the 90s and there are always must haves to pick up. The event for the evening was dinner at Frena at 52nd and 10th - truly our favorite restaurant in the city. The food is always fantastic. This restaurant had a bad fire during Covid but we are so glad they rebuilt and it is always our first choice for a spectacular evening of dining. Saturday, first off was the SARGENT AND PARIS exhibit. This was the last weekend the exhibit was open so we had to get down to see it this weekend. A very curated Sargent show and it was sexy, dark, moody, and beautiful. We hit our other favorite stores - John Derian in the Bowery, Devol kitchen studio just to salivate and we got tickets to see "Oh Mary" which was hilarious. Next day, a visit to the NYC Museum which has become one of our favorite museums in the city. A true love letter to the city. The collage movie screens in the large film room with all of the movie clips referencing NYC is the best tribute you could ever watch. A must see! Then, we went south and had a lovely, relaxing couple hours at the Plaza Palm Court having high tea. None of had been there so it was a new experience for the three of us. Beautiful space with amazing tea, lovely petite sandwiches and sweets. So much fun. There were lots of adults treating their spoiled little children with the experience. Again, definitely a must. Glad we finally went. We also visited the new remodeled Frick museum. This is a beautiful space and the art is incredible. They had this gorgeous porcelain flower exhibit as well with faux lemon trees and branches and potted faux flowers through out the museum. Really beautiful. Mary headed back to Chicago and Tim and I moved to a cute hotel on Park Ave and 30th called the Park Ave. and went and had a bite of dinner and came back to the hotel and collapsed. I had to be in the NY showroom the next day so it was a great way to relax and wind down. Super fun weekend.
