Michael Duggan

While on our trip south, we had a very good friend of ours who passed. Michael was this sweet, caring, devoted, talented, loving, quiet person we had come to love. He was the husband of one of my oldest friends, Rita from San Antonio. Michael along with Rita were very gifted and did a lot of theatre in San Antonio along with church choral groups, teaching yoga, volunteering at local animal shelters and taking care of their very large family. Michael was from the area and he and Rita would come a lot to New York to take care of his mother who lived in Nyack but we would go see theatre and have dinner together whenever they were in town. He and Rita stayed at Tim's Mom's house occasionally and he was always so helpful around the house when he would visit. We did yoga on Zoom together weekly and we had become family so quickly during Covid. We went to Michae's mother's service in November 2020 and it was the last time we saw him. Shortly after the first of the year, he had a stroke and was diagnosed with brain cancer. It was so fast, we were all in shock and were so saddened by the circumstances. We will miss him very much. They came to visit us last summer and so glad they did.

Back to NYC

We had such a nice vacation and birthday week. It was lovely and both of us were sad to go. We got back to NYC just in time for Sookie to get sick. She ended up in the vets office with our cat sitter taking such good care of her. We got home just in time to take over and make sure she was good to head back upstate. We had a day free to wander around the neighborhood, new Krispy Kreme shop opened nearby, a trip to Tiffany's for some gift exchanging and buying. A hilarious ride in a bike driven cab and lunch back at Haru and desert at this Italian ice cream shop around the corner. Nice day and time to get back to real life.

Wilmington

Shorter little excursion to Wilmingon for the day. Wlmington is just north of where we were staying is very easy to get to for lunch or dinner. It was a rainy day, so we decided to do a couple historic house tours which were awesome and then ended up at a local southern style barbeque house that was incredible.

Charleston

We only had a day to drive down and tour Charleston so it was going to be a fast and very focused trip. My friend, Virginia, who I worked with at Hanes for a number of years happened to be in town visiting her son, Brian who lives there. She joined us on our quick little tour and amazing Birthday lunch at Poogans Porch. We had an awesome day.
