CAT LIFE

Despite being cooped up in the house, they seem to enjoy themselves.

GORGEOUS FALL DAY

Tim and I took a drive today and it was just so gorgeous out. Took lots of pics but the valley at the end of the street was particularly amazing.

BEAUTIFUL SUMMER

It was a strange wet summer. Not quite what we wanted and very different from last summer. Tim made it beautiful.

ANDES BBQ

We have been reading about pit BBQ happening in Andes and decided to check it out. Not the most organized place but the food was delicious. I lived in the Philippines as a kid and one of my favorite things was pork pit BBQ. This was really good. Unfortunately, the second time we went - it wasn't the best experience. Oh well, great evening.

VEGETABLE GARDEN

The garden looks awesome right now with lots of good things to eat.

GUESTS

We had guests for the weekend. Michael and Rita Duggan. I have known Rita since I am 18 years old from San Antonio. We met while doing community theatre production of West Side Story at a theatre called San Pedro Playhouse. We were on the Shark side. Michael and Rita were up for a yoga retreat in Westchester and stayed with Tim's mom while visiting. Michaels family is from NY and the occasionally get back here and we usually get together for dinner in the city. After the retreat, they came up to Bovina for the weekend and we cooked up a storm and showed them around the area and had a wonderful weekend before they had to head back home. It was a lovely weekend.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY

OQUAGA STATE PARK

After spending so much time last summer outfitting our old pick up truck for camping excursions, we didn't quite have the camping summer I was looking forward to this summer. It was so wet and rainy all summer. We managed a day trip to the park and were going to go swimming but it was just too chilly and windy out. We brought a picnic lunch and some camp chairs out to the beach tables and sat and read and had lunch and did some people watching. It was warmish when we got there but over a few hours got a little chilly. We packed everything up and headed back home. Maybe next summer won't be so wet.

SALVAGE DOOR HEADERS

I was looking for a quick simple house project and after our culture excursion decided to make a pit stop at our favorite architectural salvage store. I was looking for old door header tops to add to the doorways in our house and hit the jackpot. Managed to find most of them in the right door size and threw them all into the back of the trunk and took them home. They are going to look great when I have all of them mounted.

COOPERSTOWN CULTURE DAY EXCURSION

Cooperstown is just the perfect place for a little culture bite. The Fenimore is such a beautiful museum with incredible lake views and grounds. We wanted to go see the Keith Haring exhibit and while there went to see an Ansel Adams photography exhibit on the Japanese/American WWII internment camps which I found so disturbing. It was sad to see that this country has not changed much since then. I always love to walk through their folk art exhibits and a nice slow walk around to see Otsego Lake. I love this town. I love that there is just enough to see when you need it. Lovely day.

WHITE FLOWERS

Mid summer and I look forward to our hydrangeas blooming at our back door. They are beautiful. I don't know why I ever was worried about my Mom's gardenia bushes, they have survived and then some between our basement grow lights and under the pergola in the summer. They were prolific this year.
