March Birthday Dinner

It's been a rough couple months with the new job and moving Mom and her being sick and just life in general.  So, nothing cheers me up then cleaning the house and having a dinner party.  We decided to celebrate February birthdays a little late but better late then never.  Mom spent the weekend with us and looked very pretty gussied up for dinner and feeling much better then she felt a couple weekends ago.  Tim pulled out all the stops and made a Coq au Riesling which was delicious ( will post later) along with a root vegetable carmelized tart and an upside down pear and chocolate cake.  All very good. It was nice just celebrating with two of our oldest and dearest friends - Melvin and Marni who live down the road from us and celebrating birthdays and just having a nice quiet snow free weekend. Marin is an expert woodworker and gave Tim this awesome gift of a custom knife holder that she made for him - absolutely beautiful.  It was a nice night and Sunday was warm and sunny and quiet.  All hell breaks loose next week with Textiles market starting - ugh!  Today's weather promises an early spring and gardening and lots of outdoor dinners and I cannot wait for the good weather to come.
